§ 2761. Licensing of taxicab operators.
No person shall drive any taxicab upon any highway of this State unless such person, upon application, has been licensed as a taxicab operator by the Department under this chapter.

§ 2762. License endorsed for taxicab.
The Department shall endorse on the driver's license of the applicant an authorization to operate a taxicab.

§ 2763. Qualifications for taxicab license.
(a) A taxicab authorization or endorsement shall not be issued to any person who:
(1) Is under the age of 18 years;
(2) Does not meet the requirements of § 2707 of this title;
(3) Has been convicted of a criminal offense of murder, rape or robbery; or
(4) Has had that person's driver's license revoked during the immediate preceding 5 years.
(b) Any taxicab authorization or endorsement issued shall automatically be rescinded by the Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles if the applicant has not shown evidence of having satisfactorily completed, within 30 days of the date of issuing the authorization or endorsement, a defensive driving course approved by the Director of the Division of Motor Vehicles.
(c) The Department may conduct a criminal history background check pursuant to the procedures set forth in Chapter 85 of Title 11 for the purposes of issuing a taxicab authorization or endorsement pursuant to this section.

§ 2764. Fee for taxicab authorization.
The fee for the authorization specified in § 2762 of this title shall be $3.45. The fee for renewals is also $3.45.
