Whereas,

November 11, 1918, 
an armistice terminated hostilities in World War I; and 
Whereas, in the

that followed, this date 
was set aside 
each year to commemorate the sacrifice of those who 
lost 
their

in 
that conflict; and 
Whereas, by an 
Act 
of 
Congress 
of 
June 1, 1954

the name 
was 
changed to 
Veterans' Da
y 
and its 
observance expanded to include tribute to all 
men 
and women who, as 
members 
of our Armed Forces, participated 
in the 
defense of our 
Nation; 
a
nd 
Whereas, 
Title 1

Section 
501 of the 
Delaware 
Code, sets aside the eleventh of November as 
a 
legal 
holiday 
in the State of 
Delaware;

VETERAN'S DAY
in Delaware

urge residents of

institutions 
on this day and urge all patriotic, veterans and community organizations
